MGFC Terms and Conditions for the Bell Let’s Talk Day 2025 Text-to-Donate Campaign

By electing to give a donation in response to a Mobile Giving Foundation Canada campaign, you agree to be bound by a set of terms and conditions. If you do not agree to be bound or cannot comply with the following terms and conditions, do not continue the donation.

Thank you for choosing to support the Bell Let’s Talk Day 2025 campaign through the Mobile Giving Foundation Canada’s (MGFC’s) text-to-donate platform.

These Terms and Conditions apply to all text donations made through MGFC, a Canadian registered charity, in support of Bell Let’s Talk Day, a campaign dedicated to fostering mental health awareness and supporting youth-focused initiatives across Canada. They specifically govern donations made to the six partnered organizations listed below during the specified campaign period.

Terms of your gift:

Your donation is to the Mobile Giving Foundation Canada (MGFC), a registered charity, which will re-grant your donation(s) to the designated charity. All text donations are billed tax-free to your monthly wireless cellphone bill. How the donation appears on your phone bill will vary based on the wireless operator, but may reference “donation”, “text donation”, “Mobile Giving Foundation Canada” or “MGFC”.

Your donation is immediate and irrevocable. Accordingly, the MGFC cannot refund or cancel your donation. Please check with your wireless operator for operator specific refund policies.

Please consult your tax or financial advisor for specific questions about your gift. All donations made through this campaign are eligible for a tax receipt and should be tax deductible. To claim your tax receipt, please visit this page any time on or after January 24, 2025: https://www.mobilegiving.ca/en/tax-receipt/

Payment to Designated Registered Charities:

MGFC collects donations paid by you from your wireless operator. In some instances, your donation will be deducted from your pre-paid balance with your wireless operator. The wireless operators remit 100% of your donation to MGFC. Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. What exactly is mobile giving?
  2. Mobile giving encompasses the concepts of text messaging, using a Short Code, a keyword, and a call-to-action. Mobile giving can be described as the act of donating money to a registered charity through one’s mobile device via text messaging. Mobile giving is often referred to as “text-to-donate”.

  3. Are there any text messaging fees incurred from making a text message donation?
  4. No. All text messages that are required to initiate and confirm the donation are free. There are no standard rate text message fees associated with text messages sent to or received from the mobile giving Short Codes throughout the donation process. The only fee incurred by the mobile user is the dollar amount of the donation itself ($5, $10, $20, or $25). A mobile user may donate up to $100 per 30 consecutive days.

  5. Where does the donation get charged?
  6. After completing the necessary steps required to confirm a donation through text message, the charge(s) will appear on the donor’s next cell phone bill/invoice statement.

  7. How do donations reach the registered charity?
  8. All donations made via text message are charged to the donor’s cell phone bill. The wireless service providers remit all donations that have been collected, on a monthly basis, to the Mobile Giving Foundation Canada, which in turn remits these funds directly to the respective charities.

For the Bell Let’s Talk Day campaign, the donation is made to the Mobile Giving Foundation Canada (MGFC), for the benefit of Bell’s 6 partner charities https://letstalk.bell.ca/. At the end of the campaign, MGFC will then equally disburse the funds raised to Bell’s partner charities.

100% of the donations will be remit by MGFC to the beneficiary charities that Bell has selected:

  9. Where can I obtain a tax receipt for donations made through text message?
  10. Official tax receipts can be obtained by visiting https://www.mobilegiving.ca/tax-receipt/. Please note that you must be in possession of the mobile number used to process the donation(s) for validation to then obtain an official tax receipt.

For the Bell Let’s Talk Day campaign, because donations are being made to the Mobile Giving Foundation Canada (MGFC), for the benefit of Bell’s selected partner charities, tax receipts will reflect a donation made to “Mobile Giving Foundation Canada for Bell Let’s Talk”.

Receipts will be claimable after the campaign’s end, as of January 24, 2025.

  11. Do the wireless service providers receive any portion of text message donations?
  12. No. The wireless service providers do not receive any portion of donations made through text messaging. 100% of the donation is remitted to the beneficiary charity.

  13. Which wireless service providers are currently supporting Mobile Giving Foundation Canada programs?
  14. Currently, this service is available through the following wireless service providers: BCE Inc. (incl. Bell Mobility, PC Mobile, Virgin Plus, Lucky Mobile), Eastlink, Freedom Mobile, Rogers (incl. Chatr, Fido), TELUS (incl. Koodo, Public Mobile), and Vidéotron (incl. Fizz).

  15. I made a donation by mistake – can I get a refund?
  16. Once a donation has been accepted through the MGFC platform, a refund cannot be issued. The only exception is that refunds can be issued for TELUS, Koodo, and Public Mobile customers, as their billing system allows MGFC to issue refunds on their behalf.

  17. I have a corporate cell phone – can I still donate?
  18. Most wireless service providers cannot distinguish between personal and corporate accounts, as it relates to making a text donation. It is important to understand that your text donation will be charged to your cell phone bill and so if you are not responsible for paying for your bill, then a donation through another method should be considered. Please visit https://letstalk.bell.ca/ for information on how to donate directly to one of the Bell Let’s Talk Day beneficiary charities.

TELUS corporate accounts can be identified and are blocked from making donations. If you are a TELUS corporate customer and attempt to donate, you will receive an automated response encouraging you to donate online.

  19. Who can be contacted to answer questions about mobile giving?
  20. For any questions related to mobile giving in Canada, please send inquiries to [email protected].
