As the month of November comes to an end and the pre-holiday excitement of December rears its head, it signals to us that our favourite charitable day of the year is finally here:

Often referred to as the “Opening day of the giving season,” GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering. A time when charities, businesses, and individuals come together and raise funds and awareness for a variety of causes. Founded in 2012, the GivingTuesday movement was created with one simple idea – one day we could celebrate each year, taking place after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which was dedicated to giving back. By utilizing the power of social media and the generosity of people, the grassroots movement which started in New York, New York quickly spread across the globe and is now celebrated in more than 145 countries.[1] What makes GivingTuesday so special is the movement’s ability to bring together the collective power of a unique blend of partners – non-profits, civic organizations, businesses, corporations, as well as families and individuals – who work like a well-oiled machine.[2] In the lead up to GivingTuesday, different organizations come together to support each other and amplify generosity no matter how big or small.

As a founding partner of GivingTuesday Canada, we celebrate the start of the giving season by giving back to the charitable community in our own special way. Each year, we waive our monthly campaign fees for November and December for eligible charities as a way to make our text-to-donate platform even more accessible. Our promotion, which includes 1 keyword, up to 2 donation amounts, and an optional post donation contact form, is not only a great opportunity for charities to try text-to-donate for the first time at a fraction of the cost, but also gives charities already actively running a campaign the ability to launch a second, more targeted, GivingTuesday campaign for free.

November 30, 2021, marks the 9th annual GivingTuesday and in honour of the Opening Day of the giving season, we’d like to share some amazing highlights from last years promotion!
