Have you checked your Facebook today? Did you scroll through your Twitter feed or spend a concerning amount of time on TikTok? Maybe you posted a cute photo on Instagram or read an interesting article on LinkedIn. Regardless of your platform of choice, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to envision a world without social media.

Another year has come and gone, despite the fact that many of us are still feeling mentally stuck in 2020! Having to follow what many people have referred to as the “worst year of their lives,” we had high hopes that 2021 would be far less tumultuous, but none the less it was a year that will be etched into history books for the roller coaster highs and lows that were experienced around the globe.

As the month of November comes to an end and the pre-holiday excitement of December rears its head, it signals to us that our favourite charitable day of the year is finally here: GivingTuesday!

It is cited by the widespread medical community that an average person needs 1,200 calories a day to survive, but beyond just fulfilling our basic needs, food is so much more than just survival. Food is an integral part of our everyday lives; it can be a driving factor that unites us or simply a difference in taste that can divide us.

Of the many optional features we offer, which can be added on to a charity’s text-to-donate campaign, one we feel deserves some time in the spotlight is a web-based application that we refer to as a ‘Widget’. A Widget can take on variety of different forms depending on the desired functionality. Most often, it is used to collect additional information from donors, along with explicit consent for post-donation contact, however is not limited to this use.
